     We arrived at Radford University at about 5pm on Friday.  The "tent city" was set up near the Dedmon athletic center, which was right next to the New River.  The river is just behind the trees on the left side of the below picture.  

     The university had excellent facilities to support the 1,700 riders who were arriving.  The only down side was that the meals were being served in a building about a mile up a hill on the main campus.  We took a shuttle bus there where we met another couple riding a tandem.  The weather was perfect, so we decided to walk back to tent city rather than take the bus again.  Before long it was dusk and we were ready to turn in for the night.
